Course summary

This course of study explores the cognitive, social and emotional development of children and the ways in which a variety of resources can be utilized to create stimulating learning experiences for them. Central to this Education Studies education programme is the importance of play, the arts, stories and media in shaping young children’s language development. The programme also examines the critical role of families and communities in determining what and who children become. Hence modules from a range of disciplines are included to equip students to train, protect, nurture and grow children’s social, emotional and intellectual capabilities. Through advising students will be guided to add to the rich general education and core modules, STRANDS in literacy, business or child advocacy with the goal of preparing programme participants for careers including:
