The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean Academy (UCCA) is an equal opportunity educational institution, a unique concept in higher education that is governed under the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) Board of Directors. established in May 2015, UCCA is mandated to provide relevant, accessible, high quality and efficient Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET). As set forth in its Policy and Procedure Manual​, UCCA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, gender, religion, disability, political affiliation or socioeconomic background. It is fundamental to the identity of UCCA to provide opportunities and skills development for all students, especially those from rural and inner-city communities.

The basic principle underlying vocational-technical education is to provide graduates with marketable skills for entry level employment or matriculate into a degree programme. UCCA is dedicated to helping students develop the character, and skills required for enlightened, ethical, and productive lives in the global community of the 21st century.
