ORIENTATION - FALL 2019

Date Published:
August 15, 2019

I take this opportunity to congratulate and welcome all the students who have been admitted into the various degree programmes at Jamaica’s largest non-affiliated, privately held University.

The Department of Student Affairs pledges to be your partner in your quest to reach your academic and personal goals over the next few years. The Orientation team has been working all year for your arrival and we’re ready to help you explore the amazing opportunities that await you here at UCC.

This year’s orientation theme is “The Mission is Possible.”

During your time at UCC, you’ll encounter various missions and throughout the journey you may wonder if you can indeed undertake each and every one. However, we wish to reassure you over the next few days that the mission is possible, and each orientation session is designed to equip you with the tools that you will need to be successful here at UCC. Please be assured that you will have breakthroughs of all kinds — from taking part in groundbreaking research, to starting a new campus initiative or listening to a friend who is having a hard day. We encourage you to celebrate wins both large and small.

Orientation is the first step in this remarkable journey and attendance is compulsory.

During orientation, you will have the opportunity to meet Senior Officials of the University; learn more about strategies for successfully adjusting to college life; getting involved on campus and making good choices. These sessions will also provide practical and valuable information on policies, programmes and services that are available to promote a conducive environment for education and training for the real world in support of your success.

We hope that as you begin this new chapter, you’ll face the mission like a true champion and explore endless possibilities for your success.

Kevin Powell,
Director of Student Affairs
