Good Samaritan Inn

History

The UCC family began supporting the programme on February 23, 2010 – which marked the third regular feeding day at the Inn and also the beginning of a relationship between the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean and the GSI.

The GSI is set up to provide meals and a place for needy persons to take showers as well as do their laundry from Sunday to Friday each week. Students from the neighboring communities are also accommodated at the Inn and are provided with meals each day. The total number of persons to be provided for was initially 150.

As the months passed, the numbers grew to approximately 225. On January 21, 2011 UCC agreed to provide meals every Tuesday, instead of only alternate Tuesdays and continued to provide for the approximately 225 needy persons. UCC staff are also on hand to provide assistance in serving the meals on alternate Tuesdays.
