July 30, 2024 - Two inmates from the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre in Kingston, are among three scholarship recipients to have completed an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean, UCC.

UCC Crowns 'Amused' Sir Richard Branson with Honorary Doctorate
Kingston, Jamaica, July 29, 2024 - Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, was a little amused yesterday after being awarded an honorary doctor of Business and Entrepreneurship degree (Honoris Causa) from a university in the small island of Jamaica.
The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) Honours Four with Honorary Doctorates
Kingston, Jamaica, July 29, 2024 - The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) on Sunday conferred three outstanding Jamaicans – Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett; executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International, ATL Group and Island Routes, Adams Stewart; and health-care pioneer, Dr Patricia V Smith; as well as Virgin Atlantic chairman, Sir Richard Branson, with honorary doctoral degrees at its 2024 commencement ceremony held at the National Arena in St Andrew.
The UCC said each honouree represents the spirit of rising to new beginnings and making impactful contributions in their fields, inspiring its graduands to do the same.
At the ceremony Professor Colin Gyles was installed as the university’s fourth president.
