UCC to Spotlight AI’s Role in Academic Success at 9th Annual Research Conference

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Friday, September 19, 2025: The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) is proud to announce its 9th Annual Research Conference to be held at the UCC Main Campus in Kingston and online via Zoom, under the theme ‘Living and Working with Artificial Intelligence’. The two-day conference, scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2025, through Thursday, September 25, 2025, will provide valuable insights into the role of artificial intelligence from international scholars who are experts in the field.

This year, the research conference will be segmented into panel discussions, workshops and poster presentations by students, each day marked by thrilling sessions that will not only captivate participants, but will re-imagine the presence of artificial intelligence in tertiary education, health, ethics and business entrepreneurship.

Highlighting the importance of this catalytic phenomenon, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Research, Dr Andrea Sutherland remarked, “In upholding our mission at UCC of preparing our students to become exceptional innovators, it is paramount for us to focus on the changes that dominate productive spaces. As such, it is imperative that we explore how AI can empower academic excellence, innovation, and inclusive research for the future”.

Noting the existing impact that this advanced technology has made in the educational sector she continued, “Artificial intelligence is not replacing human insight, it is amplifying it”.

The sessions planned will invoke a deeper appreciation for the rapidly increasing utilization of AI, while providing theoretical frameworks that remedy the challenges associated with the implementation of AI tools and software. Participants at the research conference can therefore expect dynamic engagements and powerful, data-driven intelligence geared toward personal and professional enrichment.

The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean continues to provide fulsome opportunities in an environment that promotes high standards and prepares students for global success.
