UCC Foundation Ramps Up Relief Drive for Students Affected by Hurricane Melissa

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – Monday, November 10, 2025: The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC), through its philanthropic arm, the UCC Foundation (UCCF), has coordinated post-hurricane relief efforts with the delivery of care packages to regional campuses. With the successful delivery on Friday, November 7 to its Mandeville campus, UCCF has made significant contributions to the lives of members of the university community residing in the parishes that were adversely affected by Hurricane Melissa.
The UCC Foundation Launches Post-Hurricane Relief Mission for Regional Campuses

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the UCC Foundation (UCCF) delivered hurricane relief packages to its regional campus in Montego Bay, St. James. Following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, a significant number of students and staff reported limited access to basic necessities, prompting immediate action by the University’s Foundation. Items such as bottled water, non-perishable food, sanitary products, and toiletries were provided for distribution by the Campus Manager. The relief drive will continue to other regional campuses of UCC through a phased approach. UCC Chancellor Professor John MacIntyre Urges Educators to Embrace AI in Education at 9th Annual Research Conference
Kingston, Jamaica – Thursday, September 25, 2025 - The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) opened its 9th Annual Research Conference at its main campus in Kingston on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, with a compelling keynote address from the university Chancellor Professor John MacIntyre. Held under the theme ‘Living and Working with Artificial Intelligence’, Professor MacIntyre called on educators and institutions to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) as a transformative tool in teaching, learning, and research. The Chancellor, in his presentation, urged the academic community to shift from a mindset of policing AI to one of purposeful integration, equipping students with the skills to use the technology effectively in the real world.
UCC Bags Early Win for Intercol Season, Igniting Campus Spirit and Momentum

With the commencement of this year’s Intercollegiate (Intercol) season, UCC has already demonstrated strong performances, signaling its growing presence and competitiveness on the collegiate sports stage.

Kingston, Jamaica, 10 September 2025 -- The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) has joined Acadeum Course Share as a teaching institution, becoming the first university in Jamaica and among the first in the Caribbean to do so. This partnership allows students at partner colleges and universities to enrol in UCC-taught online courses through cross-enrolment, and UCC is now live on the platform.
Acadeum is a course-sharing platform that empowers institutions to collaborate by offering and enrolling students in credit-bearing online courses from trusted peer institutions. Through its Course Share network, colleges and universities can expand academic capacity, address course bottlenecks, reduce time to degree and support student retention and success.
