Course: Planning and Contextualisation

Course Code: PDC511
Credits: 60

This module is intended to prepare learners for a detailed programme of study and research that will lead to their submission for a professional doctorate / doctorate in business administration. The concepts of moving theory into practice and applying knowledge in action underpin the module. Learners will conduct a critical review of the professional literature relating to their specified community of practice in order to identify and justify a suitable gap in knowledge to which they will address this gap by undertaking a critical review of the relevant academic literature. They will then define their research aims and objectives, and identify a suitable methodological approach through which they will conduct their research. They will identify and discuss the ethical implications of the work, and include in their plan an identification of any ethical approval processes that will need to be completed prior to commencement of the primary research phase. Their research plan will be presented as a report that will be subject to peer review.

Note: This course is available only through a programme of study.
