UCC’s Campus Ambassador Programme (CAP) is a collaborative internship opportunity for UCC students across all five campuses to work with UCC as a brand experience officer on campus and online.

CAP officers will embody the UCC brand and as such are responsible for finding innovative and creative ways to connect with and engage current and prospective students, boost student participation and assist with student assimilation to campus life.

The goal of CAP is to foster a deeper relationship with the student population while building a more inclusive and diverse online student community.

 

The CAP Officer Role & Responsibilities

The main role of the CAP officer is to promote the UCC brand amongst the student population.

Generally speaking, a CAP officer's role is to:

  1. Drive awareness of the UCC/UCCA brand and products by supporting student marketing initiatives and activations.
  2. Conducting marketing and promotional activities using social media.
  3. Liaise with the Marketing team to create innovative & engaging strategies to promote UCC/UCCA brands online.
  4. To assist the Department of Student Support, Career Development and Alumni Services (DSS) to disseminate information, promote activities.
  5.  To assist the recruitment team to promote new and existing programmes on and offline as well to connect prospective students to recruiters.
  6. Participate in UCC/UCCA branded activities on campus as well as to suggest and assist in orchestrating student centric activities on campus.
  7. Build relationships with key campus leadership including clubs and organizations.
  8. Provide real time feedback and insights on student life including the immediate reporting of any issues/complaints.

To excel as a CAP officer the candidate must exhibit a complementary mix of marketing, public speaking, relationship building, and social media skills.

CAP Officer Tasks & Duties

  • Create 4 pieces of original content per month ( at least 1 per week)
  • Attend briefing meetings with Marketing/DSS/Recruitment  to be updated on upcoming events, activities and programmes to promote
  • Participate in on-campus events
  • Promote UCC posts on your social media feed or stories
  • Collect and submit student sentiment reports including complaints, issue or general comments to improve student experience
  • Use the student Telegram/WhatsApp channels to communicate information and share events
  • Addressing the queries of students regarding events, promotions and other pertinent information
  • Submit monthly report to the Marketing department on activities and student sentiment

Benefits

  • Receive a payment per original content upon request at a rate of JMD $5,000.00 once the video has been approved
  • Up to 20% tuition credit as bonus for outstanding performance

Outstanding performance will be measured by the following factors:

  • You submit 4 videos per month
  • You submit your monthly report by the 7th of every month
  • You have directed at least 3 persons per semester to the Recruitment department (at least 1 per month)
  • Your effectiveness in communicating relevant information to y(our) audience in a timely manner (<48 hours)
  • Your ability to assist with or participate in at least 1 student-centric activity on campus

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a programme at UCC
  • Open to all programmes, but must have an interest in marketing
  • Experience in creating content for social media platforms (esp. TikTok and Instagram) is a plus.
  • Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
