Electronics Engineering

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

Electronics engineers design and develop electronic equipment, such as broadcast and communications systems, portable music players, microwaves, GPS devices, televisions, and a myriad of other electronic devices used in industry and homes.

PROGRAMME LEANING GOALS

This programme will:

  1. Teach students how to design electronic components, software, products, or systems.
  2. Prepare students to analyze the needs of customers to determine the needed capacity and cost of developing the intended electronic system.
  3. Increase efficiency in the evaluation and recommendation for modifications or equipment repair.
  4. Facilitate the inspection of electronic equipment and systems to determine their adherence to regulatory standards.
  5. Develop applications and modifications for electronic properties that are used in electronics parts to improve the performance of instruments.

PROGRAMME LEANING OUTCOMES

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering will be able to:

  • Modify, design and produce electrical and electronics drawings, layouts and reports using appropriate technology to communicate accurate technical information, and to complete project requirements.
  • Perform and generate procedures to test electrical and/or electronic circuits, equipment and systems in accordance with relevant operational guidelines and standards.
  • Design, build and troubleshoot electronic circuits, equipment, and systems in accordance with task requirements, functional specifications and relevant standards.
  • Design, construct, modify, analyze and troubleshoot digital logic circuits, embedded systems, programmable logic devices, and digital signal processing applications using industry specific software tools and programming languages to ensure their functional operation.
