UCC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
SCHOLARSHIP DONORS

Thank you to all our membership dues-contributing Alumni – the truth is that it takes cash to care …Whilst all Alumni Association paid-up members are contributing to the Scholarship programme, some of you indicated willingness to be recognised on our website, so special thank you to:-

  • Rusheyne Lovindeer Roberts
  • Oneil Dowe
  • Lashawn Mills
  • Euvine Dare

Here’s a little inspiration from the two female Alumni:-

Lashawn Mills

Work hard until you don’t have to introduce yourself”, a mantra she lives by daily.

Lashawn Mill holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean. She is also a certified digital marketer specializing in social media management.

As a young entrepreneur, she is the co-owner of Bricks Chemical Distributors based in Jamaica. Ms. Mills is a former Jamaican Youth Parliamentarian and a newly minted Justice of the Peace for the island of Jamaica. She has served in various secretarial positions within several service-based and other organizations. Even though she was from a community that is viewed as not being promising for young people, Ms. Mills pushed to complete her Bachelor’s degree.

We asked Ms. Mills:

1. What motivates you?

Self-Development motivates me as an individual. The ability to learn and develop new skills to better assist me in my career or personal life.

2. How did completing your bachelor’s degree aid in your professional and/or academic development?

Completing my bachelor’s degree in Marketing has helped me in terms of making strategic decisions for my business and also adding value to my current role within my organization.

3. Share any professional achievements/ contributions you would like UCC aspirants and current UCC students to know.

Before completing my bachelor’s degree in marketing I got the opportunity to act as the Public Relations officer for an executive agency in Jamaica. I am also now a Justice of the Peace for the country of Jamaica.

4. Why is it important to give back to the UCC Community/family?

The reason is, this was the institution that gave me a chance when I didn’t have the requisite CSEC subjects to start my career. Eventually, I acquired the relevant subjects but I also want to assist individuals who have the potential but just do not have the monetary support to carry them through their university journey.

5. What hope do you have for the person reading this?

I do hope for the person reading my profile to keep going, regardless of the obstacles life throws at you. Put God first place and carry on.

Euvine P. Dare

Euvine Dare is intrinsically motivated by her desire for increased knowledge and development.

Having completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Ms. Dare found herself poised for success. Shortly after graduating from UCC, she was able to advance to a senior position in one of the largest organizations operating in the private sector. She then went on to complete her MBA in the UK.

As a graduate of UCC, Ms. Dare is not only proud to share her experiences with others but is also willing to donate her time to the UCCAA mentorship program among other things.  She aims to see an increase in the number of Jamaicans equipped with tertiary-level education.

If you are a paid up member of the UCCAA, you too can share your motivational thoughts with us – as we seek to inspire all UCC graduates to give back and help a current student to get through their programme. Please indicate in the Membership Form
