Tower Street Prison Inmates Earn Associate Degree from UCC
July 30, 2024 - Two inmates from the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre in Kingston, are among three scholarship recipients to have completed an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean, UCC.
The pair, along with a correctional officer, earned their degrees through a memorandum of understanding, signed by the Ministry of National Security, Stand Up for Jamaica and the UCC in January, 2020.
Under the MOU, the University provides full tuition scholarships to beneficiaries of the two year programme valued at over six-hundred-thousand-dollars. Noting that the recipients are extremely qualified, Miss Gullotta is urging society to give the men a second chance.
Meanwhile, Dean of the School of Business, Entrepreneurship and Management at UCC, Sonia Davidson, is also congratulating the graduates.
