UCC Annual Research Conference to focus on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology

Kingston, September 18, 2019 –The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) will host its 3rd Annual Academic Research Conference at the institution’s Main Campus in Kingston on Wednesday, September 25, from 10am to 7pm, and Thursday, September 26, from 8am to 2pm.

The two day event will be held under the theme: ‘Developing Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology for Global Competitiveness’ and will include keynote addresses by the Honourable Fayval Williams, Minister of Science, Energy and Technology and Dr. the Honourable Nigel Clarke, Minister of Finance and the Public Service, respectively.

Gayle, President and Executive Chancellor, University of the Commonwealth Caribbean.

On the first day of the Conference, the University will launch its Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre, showcase research posters by students, display the work of student entrepreneurs and host a Plenary Session titled, Tourism and Digital Transformation.

Other Plenary Sessions will focus on Finance and Development and Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology for Global Competiveness. Panellists for these sessions are: John Robinson, Deputy Governor, Bank of Jamaica; Dr Karim Youssef, International Monetary Fund Representative for Jamaica; Faculty from the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean, University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom and Florida International University.

The 2019 Annual Academic Research Conference is open to the public and is being sponsored by Advantage General Insurance Company, Fujitsu Jamaica and Continental Baking Company Limited.
