UCC Celebrates Institutional Greatness, Global Impact, And Esteemed Honorary Doctorate Recipients

Central to UCC’s celebration of institutional greatness, at their recent Commencement Ceremony held on July 28th there was the conferral of honorary doctorates on an eminent group of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to society. These esteemed awardees included The Honourable Edmund Bartlett, Adam Stewart, Dr. Patricia V. Smith, and Sir Richard Branson.
The Honourable Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, has been a transformative force in the tourism industry, not only within Jamaica but also on the global stage. Sir Richard Branson, the iconic founder of the Virgin Group, has reshaped industries through his entrepreneurial ventures and philanthropic efforts. UCC's journey of growth and success remains newsworthy, driven by its continuous efforts to expand its global presence and academic offerings. They hold International Accreditation from the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges, and Universities (ASIC) with Premier Status. Further elevating its academic prestige, UCC is the only official affiliate and recognized institution of the University of London (UOL) in Jamaica. This exclusive affiliation allows the university to offer the Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law and the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degrees, providing Jamaican students with access to world-class legal education.
The recent installation of Professor Colin Gyles as President and His Excellency Dawood Al Shezawi as Pro-Chancellor & Chief International Ambassador marks a new chapter in the university’s history. Professor Gyles’ leadership, combined with H.E. Al Shezawi’s international
