Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, has welcomed a joint venture partnership to establish a new law school in the Caribbean.
The move, which involves collaboration among the Government of Guyana, the University College of the Caribbean (UCC), and the Law College of the Americas (LCA), will facilitate access to enhanced legal education for a wider cross section of qualified persons.

The University College of the Caribbean (UCC) has received international institutional accreditation status from the United Kingdom-based Accreditation Service for International Colleges & Universities (ASIC).

While the company says it is not yet ready to share the specifics of its plans, the University College of the Caribbean (UCC) has gone ahead to advertise for a vice president in charge of franchising who will also oversee mergers and acquisitions.
On Monday, an unnamed spokesperson told the Jamaica Observer that more details will be available in January.
However, press adverts indicate that it is seeking a VP for International Franchise, Mergers and Acquisitions.

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Professor Dennis Gayle, executive chancellor of the University College of the Caribbean (UCC), has been invited by the Caricom Secretariat to sit as a member of the Caricom Technical Working Group (TWG) for the tertiary education sector.
The group is headed by Professor Compton Bourne, past president of the Caribbean Development Bank and former chancellor of the University of Guyana and pro vice chancellor of the University of the West Indies.
