To survive and to enable continued growth in today’s fast changing environment, corporations need to continually revamp themselves through new products and new businesses. In some instances, this involves dealing with advanced technology.
This course will introduce students to the best practices and theory on fostering innovation through the process of identifying new ideas and converting them to commercial products and new businesses. We will explore strategies, organizational structures and implementation challenges of new ventures within an established corporation.
On successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Identify similarities and differences between corporate and start-up entrepreneurship
- Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles to entrepreneurship in established companies
- Formulate corporate objectives and strategies that support entrepreneurial behavior
- Discuss ways in which work environments can be designed to support entrepreneurial behavior
- Apply the entrepreneurial process to the operations of a department or functional area within an established organization
