PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
Data Science is an essential discipline which drives business decision-making. In a rapidly growing data-driven world, this innovative programme will be impactful, transformative, and valuable to all relevant stakeholders who rely on data to do business. Students in this first-degree programme will be provided with essential training in mathematical, statistical, machine learning and computer science concepts to manage and visualize all types of data. Students will be exposed to data visualization, database systems, data analysis, data mining and computer programming and learn how to manage, manipulate, interpret, and comprehend data. Additionally, this programme is designed to provide students with a firm understanding of algorithmic reasoning and the computing skills required for data analysis, and further develop their critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills needed for ethically sound professional practice.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Data Science will be able to:
- Respond to queries and tasks by competently matching data science techniques to analyse quantitative and qualitative data.
- Apply data modelling methods and interpret descriptive and referential statistics for various quantitative data.
- Evaluate and choose clear, reliable, well-structured solutions from the analysis of data and discuss the implications for the stakeholder.
- Collaborate effectively with others to design programmes, apply efficient data analyses methodologies to data sets to prepare output and solutions.
- Recognise diversity and communicate effectively in international and cross-cultural contexts.
- Create and present technical reports on methodology, analysis, and solutions using effective oral and written communication skills.
- Apply theoretical and technical knowledge and skills to provide socially and ethically responsible data solutions with accountability. Reflect on the ethical and privacy implications of managing (big) data.
