Receiving the Janet Davis Lindsay Memorial scholarship from the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean means a lot to me. Words cannot express how grateful I am. It has made me feel proud that someone – or in this case, an institution – was willing to believe in me, while I believed in myself. The scholarship motivated me to continue school and continue working hard to excel in all I do and maintain a great GPA. Not only that, but it gave me hope that I can possibly finish school loan-free, which is currently one of my biggest goals in life. I look forward to someday giving back to my community and continuing my education at UCC; I will definitely be reapplying for the scholarship next year. I hope UCC continues offering scholarships, helping students in need, and touching lives in the same way they did for me. |

The UCC First Generation Scholarship has definitely impacted my university experience in the best way possible. It not only helped to decrease my tuition expense but, it has allowed me to become a more grateful person, especially for the little things in life. Before being chosen for this scholarship, my only option was to borrow student loan; the UCC First Generation Scholarship prevented me from acquiring an unwanted debt. This scholarship is also a motivation for me to remain focused and do well. |

I must express how grateful I am to be a recipient of the prestigious award of the Janet Davis Lindsay Memorial scholarship. Receiving this scholarship has been tremendously helpful and rewarding – which leaves a lingering feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. UCC’s generosity and commitment are exactly the kind of community involvement that is needed and appreciated by me and so many others. My educational aspirations are being attained through this medium. Words fail me to truly express my gratitude to this noble institution. A big thank you to the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean for your assistance in this regard; the opportunities, scholarships, and grants are what have enhanced and will continue to propel students into our God-given destiny to be agents of change within the service industry. An award well received and greatly appreciated! |

Upon receiving the Janet Lindsay Memorial Scholarship through the UCC Foundation, I was elated because it meant I would continue my education without worry. Furthermore, the scholarship allowed me to excel to the next level in my personal and professional development pushing me closer to my goal of earning a B.Sc. in Business Administration-AFM. The award was the silver lining in my darkest cloud as I was unemployed (in the COVID-19 pandemic) with no avenue to generate the funds for tuition. On receiving the call I felt happy that someone saw my need and gave me a helping hand. I sincerely express heartfelt gratitude towards the UCC Foundation for the great opportunity that was given at a difficult time in my life. I am forever grateful and I thank you, UCC Foundation. |

I express my gratitude to UCC for their generous gift that has made my education attainable. Through their support, I have accomplished much of what I never thought possible. I am proud to say I have worked hard to be where I am, but I certainly could not have done it without the help of the UCC Foundation. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to immerse myself in all aspects of university life. I take great pride in all that I do here at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean and for the direction this experience has provided me. I am forever grateful for their generosity. |

Receiving the Janet Davis Lindsay Memorial scholarship has been a tremendous help, it more than “stop a gap” as many Jamaicans would say. As a single parent this scholarship has allowed me to off-set personal financial expenses and tuition fees for myself and my children. I will recommend and encourage anyone who is qualified to apply for this scholarship. |

I am very much appreciative of the fact that I was selected for the UCC Trailblazer Scholarship, and how it has afforded me the opportunity to continue my tertiary level education in a time of great financial difficulty and emotional distress. It has encouraged me, not only to continue but also push me to do my best. |

I would like to extend my deepest and most heartfelt thank you for offering me the amazing opportunity to continue my scholastic journey to learn, grow and impact others. I am now in the final year of study at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean and I can truly express how wonderful this experience has been; the road was rocky as learning is taking place. I believe that I have grown and changed so much over the last three years because my professors have stretched my experiences and abilities, and I have become acquainted with people who fostered positivity and influenced who I am today. The First Generation Scholarship that I was awarded, has allowed me to ease some of the financial burdens that were present in my life and allowed me to focus more on school and experience the full university life, I have joined several clubs, most notable, UCC Circle K International Club to which I am now President. UCC is an amazing school, especially for Business Administration, Accounts and Information Technology, and I am grateful that I have the opportunity to attend this college. |
