PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

The BSc. in Networking with Cyber Security programme will provide professional skills required to maintain IT networks and Internet security as there is a need for trained professionals to prevent data breaches, privacy leaks and cyber-attacks. Experts in networking and cyber-security are needed to protect companies and organisations from malicious activities. The BSc. in Networking with Cyber Security will give an extensive and practical foundation in the full range of designing, building, and securing enterprise networks and computing environments.

PROGRAMME LEARNING GOALS

This programme will:

  1. Prepare students with best practices technical knowledge and skills in performing network security vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to protect and defend computer systems and networks against security threats.
  2. To develop graduates who can plan, design and implement secure computer and network solutions to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data at rest, in transit or in use.
  3. To develop graduates who can manage, audit and respond to network and system security breaches.

 

PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Networking with Cyber Security will be able to:

  • Apply comprehensive theoretical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and ethical principles to address case studies and practical applications in networking and cybersecurity.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and secured networks using routers, switches, firewalls, network intrusion detection systems, proxies, secured transmission media, patch management, and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate tools to assist with administering and troubleshooting computers, network devices, and detect malicious network traffic.
  • Assess the effectiveness of current secured communication technologies, devices, and components used to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data in local and wide area networks.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices and risk management strategies. 
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively in different professional settings comprising technical or non-technical decision-makers, team members, users and other stakeholders.
  • Develop a growth mindset to engage in continuous professional development to keep abreast of advancing cybersecurity best practices.
