PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

Today’s business environment requires professionals with drive and calculated risk management personas, who understand the dynamics of a competitive economy. They are focused on business idea generation and making the best of opportunities, to craft their own business operation. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Innovation & Entrepreneurship is so structured, to give aspiring business operators an opportunity to develop the knowledge, analytical skills, and techniques used by successful business executives. The curriculum has been designed to include the most current trends, techniques and practices of contemporary Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Students will also have the opportunity to receive certification in some courses from the overseas institutions that UCC will partner with. This programme is ideal for students who favour innovation and being their own boss.

 

PROGRAMME LEARNING GOALS

This programme will:

  1. Provide key concepts underpinning the concepts of Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
  2. Explore concepts in the exploitation of products, services and processes.
  3. Provide insight into how to design creative strategies for developing new opportunities.
  4. Provide guidance in securing and managing financial resources for new business ventures.

 

PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Innovation & Entrepreneurship will be able to:

  1. Outline the fundamentals of business opportunity evaluation, from the perspective of a prospective investor.
  2. Identify the most recognised sources of potential funding and financing for business start-ups and/or expansion.
  3. Demonstrate good skills in computer proficiency, including the use of word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software packages, as well as a basic facility with the internet and other research tools.
  4. Showcase excellent speaking skills developed through in-class discussion of text materials, case study analyses, and current entrepreneurship-related issues.
  5. Assess their own personal work product(s) and critique those of their colleagues - with regard to thoroughness, creativity and how those could apply to their own real life, future business ventures.
  6. Develop and present a comprehensive and, operational business plan.
  7. Make presentations on complex case studies, and provide solutions for entrepreneurial opportunity and implementation
