PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

Today’s businesses require creative marketing professionals who understand the dynamics of a competitive economy. They are focused on consumer needs, possess the ability to translate those needs into products and services and then selling them for a profit. Those who excel in the field of marketing possess special skills: intuition, logic, creativity, well developed analytical skills and leadership abilities. No doubt, a good marketer is a necessary adjunct to the profitability and hence, the success of any business. The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) strives to keep its programme content engaging and relevant to business needs. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing is so structured to give aspiring marketing specialists an opportunity to develop the knowledge, analytical skills and techniques used by successful marketing professionals. The curriculum has been designed to include the most current trends, techniques and practices of contemporary marketing. Some of the specialised modules include: Brand & Product Management, Social Media Marketing, Destination & Attractions Marketing, Retail Management, Sales Management, Consumer Behaviour, Public Relations, Advertising and Strategic Marketing.

PROGRAMME LEARNING GOALS

This programme will:

  1. Develop customer insights that are important for executing marketing strategies;
  2. Design, plan, collect data, analyse, and interpret results for marketing decision-making;
  3. Develop excellent communication and negotiation skills;
  4. Become creative, innovate and critical thinkers;
  5. Effectively utilise the concepts of segmentation, targeting and positioning in strategic marketing;
  6. Effectively develop and implement action plans based on the marketing mix;
  7. Apply global marketing strategies to improve return on investment.
