PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work programme in Social Work offers courses leading to the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree. It combines humanities and general studies offerings with social work modules to prepare individuals for entry into direct human service professional positions. The programme is designed to prepare competent, professional, ethical social work generalists. Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students learn to work collaboratively in a variety of settings and learn skills including engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation at various levels (CSWE Standards). Students will learn supplementary skills such as service planning, case management, problem solving, community outreach and organizing, advocacy, research and networking. The programme is designed to produce graduates who will work for the well-being of their clients, advocate for the development and implementation of appropriate and relevant social policies and contribute positively to the administration of organizations.
