Intercollegiate Sports
The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean, as a member of the Jamaica Inter-Collegiate Association (INTERCOL), participates in their annual competitions. INTERCOL organizes and executes the operation of nine sports, Basketball, Cricket, Table Tennis, Badminton, Football, Hockey, Netball, Volleyball, and Track & Field. This year the University aims to identify a cadre of students to establish teams for each of these events. The UCC Sports programme presents a healthy option; participation in sports not only enhances physical and mental growth but also has multiple positive effects later in life.
To play INTERCOL, a student has to meet the following requirements:
- Must be a registered student
- Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or more
- Complete the Registration Form here
Be a part of one of our most intriguing pastimes on campus. This is a very important way to get involved on campus and it also serves as an excellent means to learn different sporting activities while getting or keeping fit. Even if you are off-field, you can forge an atmosphere that will push our INTERCOL teams to continue to make the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean proud through sports.

2024 will mark David’s 18th year as an adjunct lecturer at UCC. In addition to the myriad of courses that he lectures, he has been asked to step in as sports administrator for UCC. Since then, he was responsible for coaching the male and female football teams and actively put the netball team together. David has been involved in track, cricket, football, volleyball and hockey from high school to the university level to the club level winning various awards in these disciplines. He represented Jamaica quite a few times in hockey as well. He also has major sporting achievements in martial arts. David has over forty championship trophies at the junior and senior level though achieved these at the age of 17.
At sixteen he had been the only male to have captained the national team 5 times. He led the team to the US Open, Cayman (twice) and twice locally. At 18 he won the National Lightweight Championship Belt three times undefeated and attained 328th rank in the World Black Belt Ranking system. He attracted sponsorship for gear for many championships by prominent sporting gear houses. He is also actively involved in organizing sporting events and sports days for companies such as JUTC among others. David believes that sports in universities help to mold and diversify a student’s experience and he hopes to bring this to UCC during his tenure.
