Itemised components

1) JAMCOPY License Fee

Paid directly to JAMCOPY

The JAMCOPY License fee is payable at the beginning of the academic year, or upon acceptance of an offer from UCC for students commencing programmes in the Spring Semester or Summer Sessions.

  • Jamaica: JMD $1,600

This fee allows students to access and legally reproduce extracts of copyright material published in print, such as books, periodicals, and journals, under a license charged by the Jamaican Copyright Licensing Agency (JAMCOPY).

2) Personal Accident Insurance

Paid directly to Sagicor

Students are required to pay JMD $1,000 each academic year to access the Personal Accident Insurance policy provided. This fee is payable at the beginning of the academic year, or upon acceptance of an offer from UCC, for students commencing programmes in the Fall or Spring Semester of each academic year.

Summer start note:

  • Students starting in Summer semester are required to pay JMD $6,333.33 for the Summer Semester only.
  • This is the prorated cost for the Summer Semester only, and students are not covered for insurance if they start in summer and pay the prorated miscellaneous fee.
  • Thereafter, students are required to pay JMD $20,000 for the Fall semester, wherein insurance becomes effective.

What the remaining Miscellaneous Fee covers

  • Library and Information Services
Access to electronic databases and maintenance of the Library Software Management System.
  • Graduation Processing
Registry assessment of graduation eligibility through to certificate preparation, and preparation and or purchase of regalia (gowns, hoods, honour cords, caps, and certificate holders). This is a contribution and does not cover the full economic cost of the graduation exercise.
  • Information and Communication Technologies
Provision and maintenance of the Aeorion Student Management System, computer labs, and wireless services.
  • Seminars, Workshops, and Conferences
  • Student Sports and Cultural Development Activities

Important notes

  • Transfers and refunds: The Miscellaneous Fee is non-refundable once the semester has started and the student has commenced studies. Only the Personal Accident Insurance and JAMCOPY fees are itemised. All other components are bundled and are not individually identifiable for proration.
  • Why the fee is bundled: Bundling supports manageable annual payments and helps reduce the need for a separate larger graduation payment in the final year.
  • Final year note: The miscellaneous fee is not prorated for final semester students once a new academic year commences and the student registers for that academic year.
