This course presents a systematic overview of international business. There will be an integrated progression of topics beginning with an understanding of what constitutes international business (IB); the globalization of markets and the internationalization of the firm; the cultural environment of IB; political, legal, economic systems and government intervention; entering and operating in international markets; influences on international investment, finance, and business; global strategy and marketing; international organization design and control; and human resource management in the global firm.
At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
- Identify and describe the key concepts of International Business, and the impact environmental factors will have on business decision-making to go global.
- Examine the principles behind International Trade and Investment Theory.
- Outline the principles of policy development, issues with international cooperation, such as GATT/WTO/ Regional Economic Integration and Trading Blocs.
- Discuss the impact of international activity on organization design and control; Strategic Planning for International Business and methods of entering the international market.
- Explain the principles and strategies employed in International Marketing and International Operations Management.
- Identify and evaluate the principles employed in Human Resource Management for businesses in the international market.
